Event trends we love in 2017

There are some amazing new event trends coming for 2017. We picked five of our favourites to share with you. Whether it’s hot new tech or fabulous decor, here are five trends for events in 2017.

1. Using drones
In 2016 we mentioned the trend of streaming events live - now we can do it from the sky! Cameras attached to drones fly high above the venue and offer a bird’s eye view of an event. This is a great idea for outdoor, summer-time events.

2. Virtual reality
This was a trend for 2016 and it isn’t going anywhere. Jump into a virtual reality world and immerse yourself! With gadgets like the Oculus Rift, Sony VR, HTC Vive and more. VR is only going to bigger in 2017.

3. Solving the empty seat 
problem
Scalpers are a huge problem with big events. An even bigger problem is an event with flaringly empty seats. There is a new movement now to help people who cannot attend an event to share their tickets in a proper, legal way. Event managers need to embrace this “secondary market” and keep seats filled.

4. Artificial intelligence
With tech like Siri, Cortana, Alexa and more, AI (artificial intelligence) isn’t just science fiction anymore. The events industry is embracing this with AI concierge services, allowing delegates to get assistance quickly and efficiently.

5. Creating content on-site
It’s not just about taking a few snaps of the attendees and the food. Live streaming from the event, filming event wrap-up videos, and more. When going into your event, have a strategy in mind for what content you would like to create and how you will use it in your marketing efforts during that year. Allow your event to keep working for your company long after it ends.
